Football fans who are looking for a savings account that ties up with their passion might want to look at products on offer from Britannia .
The building society has teamed up with 13 Premiership, Championship and League One clubs to offer soccer themed football accounts.
Peter Mansfield, head of affinity relationships at Britannia, said: "Our Save and Support accounts, in particular, are a great incentive for people of all ages to put some money aside and support their favourite club at the same time."
He added that the clubs are paid a bonus based on the amount of money in the savings accounts and the number of people taking out mortgages that are offered on a similar basis.
The money is then used by the clubs for their future development, with most pitting the cash towards the academies, he stated.
Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Stoke City and Ipswich Town are all just some of the teams involved in the scheme.
Last week, Newcastle Building Society launched a savings account linked to the FTSE 100 index.
It offers a guaranteed minimum return of 15 per cent over the term of the account .
