Consumers to get more savings account information

Thu, 07 Feb 2008

A new website has been launched with the aim of helping people to pay less tax on their savings accounts .

The new Tax Incentivised Savings Association (Tisa) site features a guide to savings accounts featuring information on child trust funds, individual savings accounts and other products.

Tony Vine-Lott, director general of Tisa, said: "We wanted to create a resource of information to help consumers make the most of their savings."

He added that they hope to provide information about other savings products such as pensions and investment bonds in future.

Tisa works with the retail financial service industry, political parties, HM Treasury, HM Revenue and Customs and the Financial Services Authority.

It aims to improve the range and quality of savings and investment products available to UK citizens.

From April this year the amount people can save tax free in an individual savings account will rise to £7,200 a year.
