Parents of twins tend to receive more regular contributions to their child trust funds (CTFs) than single children, it has been claimed.
Engage Mutual reported that parents with twin children who have one of its CTF accounts are 40 per cent more likely to make regular monthly payments for their children than other parents.
The firm claimed that parents of twins contribute an average of £1.51 more for each of their children to their CTFs than families who do not have twins.
Karl Elliott, spokesperson for Engage Mutual, said: "Regardless of household income, or how many children you have, everyone should be encouraged to save for their children's future."
According to the latest statistics from the Tax Incentivised Savings Association, more than half a million CTF accounts are receiving additional contributions.
The body reported that most accounts see top-ups made by direct debit, but some receive lump sum contributions.
