HSBC has announced the launch of the new Bank Account Plus.
A package of benefits available with the account is particularly lucrative to frequent travellers.
At a fee of £9.95, account holders receive comprehensive worldwide travel insurance for families and free use of cash machines when abroad, as well as extra protection against identity fraud.
The monthly fee is set to stay unchanged at the discount rate until next year, when an increase to the standard rate would bring the monthly payment to £12.95.
Joe Garner, head of HSBC's customer proposition said that the high street bank has always tried to help its customers save money
"With the recent launch of our eight per cent Regular Saver, we are helping them to save very effectively. Now we are helping them spend effectively too," he said.
He said the Plus account particularly suits those who enjoy travelling or bank customers that are worried about the impact of fraud.
He cited added choice for customers and tailored solutions for people with particular needs as some of the main advantages of the account.
With Britons having spent over £13.5 billion on holidays last year, Plus account holders could save by the offer of purchasing foreign currency and travellers' cheques commission free at the bank.
Those holidaying within the UK would benefit from deals offering up to half-price on local hotel bookings.
